International Society for the Study of Xenobiotics Selects SmithBucklin for Full-Service Management

CHICAGO - December 14, 2005 – The International Society for the Study of Xenobiotics (ISSX) announced today that it has selected SmithBucklin as its full-service management company. Founded in 1981, ISSX is the only international society for scientists dedicated to the study of xenobiotics, foreign compounds (such as drugs and other non-naturally occurring compounds) present in biological systems. In addition to promoting education and training in the field, ISSX provides networking opportunities and publishes and disseminates research to its almost 3,000 members in more than 50 countries.

"Our organization's 25 years of success are a result of the energy and support of our charter and volunteer members, as well as the unwavering dedication of our administrative officer," said Cosette Serabjit-Singh, ISSX president. "To remain successful for the next 25 years and beyond, we have selected SmithBucklin because the company understands what ISSX offers now and what ISSX aims to be. SmithBucklin has demonstrated to us that they will provide the skills, experience and resources needed to support and grow our organization."

Under terms of the agreement, ISSX will relocate its headquarters from Bethesda, MD, to SmithBucklin's offices in Washington, DC. Nancy Holahan, who has served as ISSX's administrative officer for the past 21 years, will join SmithBucklin and continue in her current role.

"ISSX is one of the most prestigious international scientific societies, and it is a real honor for our team to have the opportunity to work as their management partner," said Michael Olson, SmithBucklin's executive vice president. "We are confident that SmithBucklin's deep experience working with science-focused organizations will help ISSX achieve its goals, which include growing worldwide membership and continuing to enhance member offerings."
