SmithBucklin Names Four New Vice Presidents
CHICAGO - March 15, 2006 – SmithBucklin, the world's largest association management company, today announced the promotion of Jim Luisi, Carol McGury, Michael Silverman and Mark Thorsby to vice president.
"These four individuals have consistently demonstrated outstanding leadership in driving growth and success for both our clients and company," said Henry S. Givray, SmithBucklin's Chairman and CEO. "We are pleased to recognize them for their tangible contributions and deep commitment to our clients and to SmithBucklin."
Jim Luisi joined SmithBucklin in 1994 as an association executive. He currently serves as executive director of the Society for Information Management, a position he has held since 1998. He also provides guidance and oversight to other SmithBucklin executive directors. Luisi's promotion is in recognition of the leadership support he provides to client organizations and the association professionals who serve them.
Carol McGury joined SmithBucklin in 1988 as a membership assistant for SHARE, the company's first technology user group. In 1995, McGury was appointed SHARE's executive director, a position she held for 10 years. She currently serves as executive director of the Independent Oracle Users Group. McGury's promotion is in recognition of the corporate oversight and leadership support she provides to client organizations and the association professionals who serve them.
Michael Silverman joined SmithBucklin in 2000 as general counsel responsible for directing the company's legal activities and overseeing several corporate programs. After the sale of SmithBucklin to its employees in 2005, Silverman was appointed chairman of the ESOP Committee, a committee of SmithBucklin's board of directors. Silverman's promotion is in recognition of his years of dedicated service and his growing management role within the company.
Mark Thorsby, CAE, joined SmithBucklin in 1994 as an association executive. He currently serves as executive director of the International Carwash Association, a position he has held since joining the company. Thorsby also has overall responsibility for SmithBucklin's client leader educational programs and consulting services. His promotion is in recognition of the tremendous value he brings to SmithBucklin's clients through these leadership programs, and the oversight and leadership support he provides to the International Carwash Association and the association professionals who serve it.
