Industry Benchmarking Surveys
As an AMC owner, you realize the value of benchmarking your company against others in the industry. This process helps keep you informed about trends and their impact on your business.
AMC Institute provides the only benchmarks for the AMC industry. To access the results, you must either PARTICIPATE in the survey or JOIN AMC Institute. As a new member, you may purchase any of the surveys listed below but must participate in order to receive the results. AMC Institute seeks to get the highest participation numbers to make the results as accurate as possible.
Previous Benchmarking Surveys
| Management Fees Survey |
| Last Conducted: |
2004 |
| Purpose: |
To provide AMC Institute member companies with benchmark data of industry historical percentages of total AMC management fees compared to association/society budgeted revenue. Member AMCs will provide only the percentage of their AMC management fee compared to the association/society budget. A submission would be entered for each association/society that the AMC manages. Hence, if an AMC manages 10 clients, they would be asked to submit 10 responses. For this reason, and in the hopes of encouraging strong member participation, the survey will be kept extremely simple. |
| Historical Billable Rates Survey |
| Last Conducted: |
2002; 2006 |
| Purpose: |
The purpose of the Historical Billable Rates Survey is to provide participating companies with benchmark industry data on hourly billable rates. The billable rate is the fee charged to clients (associations / professional societies / philanthropic organizations). This survey also provides participating companies with insight into whether AMCs are using a unique hourly rate per staff member or position or if they are using a "blended" rate. |
| Compensation Survey |
| Last Conducted: |
2002; 2005 |
| Purpose: |
The survey is structured in two sections to help gather some basic benchmark information that can be used within your operations when analyzing the composite report. Based on participation, the goal would be to have the data summarized in multiple cross sections. IAAMC is confident that all members will gain value from this tool. The first section of the survey gathers the basic profile information that will be used to determine the cross section categories. The second section gathers data about executives (and various support staff) of the association management company. |
| Operating Ratio Survey |
| Last Conducted: |
1985; 1986; 1989; 1990; 1991; 1992; 1996; 1998; 2001; 2005; 2006 |
| Purpose: |
AMC Institute surveys member and non-member association management companies to develop benchmarks for company financial and operating performance. Results profiled in this report are based on income statement, balance sheet, and operating data provided by participating companies. |
| Technology Survey |
